Meet Laura

​

Laura holds a degree in Psychology and Criminology (BSc) and an MA in Social Work. Additionally to this, she holds various certifications, including Play and Creative Arts Therapy, Certified Theraplay Practitioner, and Clinical Supervisor. She is also pursuing her practicum in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy. With a passion for continuous learning, Laura has had further training in Therapeutic Life Story Work, AutPlay, Trauma Play, Sand Tray, and Sensory Attachment Intervention - Just Right State program.

Throughout her career, Laura has gained diverse experience in different sectors, such as Education, Criminal Youth Justice system, mental health, child protection, fostering and adoption. Her focus has been on supporting children, young people, and families. As a senior practitioner in adoption, she initiated a life story book team aligned with corporate directives and provided training on sibling (together/apart) assessments, life story books, and life story / direct work with children and young people delivering to a wide range of audiences.

Laura's interest lies in working with children and young people who have experienced challenges. She offers a range of therapeutic interventions to both parents and the child/young person. She has an interest in 'human relationships' and how adversity impacts on children and young people. She has completed Dr. Pat Crittenden's course on Attachment, Neurodevelopment, and Psychopathology, focusing on psychological disorder development, prevention, and treatment from infancy to adulthood. She also received supplementary training in assessments connected to the Dynamic Maturational Model of Attachment and Adaption (DMM),  the Meaning of the Child Interview (MOTC) and The Child Attachment and Play Assessment (CAPA).

Currently, Laura works with Local Authorities, Adoption Consortiums, and private individuals, providing therapy, consultancy, and experiential training. She is a member of various professional bodies, including Social Work England (SWE), Play Therapy UK (PTUK), the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and is listed as a therapeutic provider with Adoption Consortiums.

Laura is dedicated to maintaining professional standards, adhering to ethical practices, and receives regular clinical supervision. She holds an enhanced DBS certificate with update provision, as well as Professional Liability and Indemnity insurance.
